Church on the Corner Retreat 2019
Friday 30 August, 7.30pm - Sunday 1 September, 2pm
What does being a 'good' person or a 'good' Christian mean?
Everyone has heard of the Ten Commandments and most of you even if you're not a Christian obey it to some extent. For example you don't steal or lie, you don't cheat on your spouse, (as Christians) you go try to church every Sunday, you tithe etc. You try to do things by the book. Sometimes you're quite successful at being a good person or Christian and sometimes you fail. But overtime, it becomes an enslaving cycle of just following the DOs and DONTs and of successes and failures! It is always never good enough!
But that's not what a good life is supposed to be like according to the Bible!
Instead of focusing on the DOs and DONTs, God wants us focus on what has been DONE. Christ came to this earth to free us from what binds us. Out of LOVE, Christ SURRENDERED himself to death on the cross and only through Him can we find true FREEDOM in life.
We welcome you to join us at this retreat as we explore the theme of 'FREEDOM: LOVE SURRENDERED' using the book of Galatians.
"For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery." Galatians 5:1 (ESV)
